With many other social problems, ‘Poverty’ stands first in the line as a huge social problem faced by majority of India’s population today. There are many ways in which different organizations have come forward to solve this social problem, but its eradication is not just in the hands of the government or few organizations. Each and every person should work towards the upliftment of the poor and needy in every way possible. Here comes SEVODAGAM, taking baby steps to raise the standards of these people by raising the services for them.
To make the lives of the depressed classes better in any way possible. Lokasamastha Sukhino Bhavanthu!
To uplift the standards of living of the poor and needy with 4 main areas we concentrate on. The areas which we intend to do service in are: Food, Education, Health, and Safety
Annadanm to Senior Citizen, Providing Health Drink for Malnourished Kids, Milk Distribution, Fever Hospital Annadanam, Cancer Hospital Lunch Distribution, Narayankhed Anndanam, Narayanpatra, Sponsoring Fruits to Orphanage Kids, Feeding Stray Dogs, Vidya Jyoti Scholarship, Abhyasika, “Slum Abhyasika” Support, Sanitary Pad Distribution, Self Defence.
Even after witnessing many food drives across many places, we intend to focus on the areas which have been neglected. One such place is the Government Fever Hospital, Nallakunta, Hyderabad, where since July 2016, our volunteers conduct Annadanam every Wednesday for the patients’ attendees, serving them with food and buttermilk. Another two places where we serve food are Medak and Arni district of Tamilnadu. There we serve food to senior citizens and senior couples who have been neglected by their children. There are 10 people in Medak and 2 in Arni district.
Our Objective: We intend to expand our food drive at Fever Hospital from ‘weekly once program’ to ‘weekly twice program’. We look forward to find more places where senior citizens are neglected and provide them with food. We also plan to tie up with few restaurants/hotels where senior citizens are given coupons so that they conserve food for subsidized prices.
Keeping in mind that Education is the base for any individual to develop in a better way with immense strength and knowledge, we provide scholarships to students of 10th grade to help them pursue higher education. We also provide these scholarships to school students of other grades, engineering and degree students. These scholarships our solely given on merit. Apart from this, we also support Abhyasika centres which are ‘after school centres’ that we run in government schools for the students who need extra support in their education. As of now 4 students are being supported in Medak and 1 in Borabanda Slum through Akshaya Vidya.
Our Objective: We intend to improve the quality of education provided by the Abhyasika tutors by training them with skills required. We also intend to increase the number of Abhyasika centres in places where there is necessity but is neglected. We provide career guidance to government school students, etc…
We provide aid to any person in need and help the disabled to live an easy and better life through modern ways. We are also associated with Dignity Drive Team with whom we conduct awareness programs on menstrual cycle for women, girls in schools and colleges and migrant workers. Along with these awareness sessions we also distribute Sanitary napkins for free to 100 women in Rasoolpura slum. We’ve also installed ‘Ashudhinashak’ in order to prevent the menstrual waste from going into the landfills.
Our Objective: We intend to set up a Pad Bank where Sanitary napkins are made available for each and every girl and woman for subsidized cost and avoid them from resorting to unhealthy methods during the cycle. We also look forward to set up ‘Ashudhinashak’ in slums and schools.
we move forward with increasing development in almost all sectors, we also need to understand that the crime towards women is also increasing with high pace. To face this scenario of today’s society in our country, it is mandatory that every woman is trained with self-defence techniques. We started conducting self-defence classes for government school students since 2016. Initially these classes were conducted in one GH School, Erramanzil, and later in 2017, this self-defence training program was expanded to three schools. We plan to expand this program further. One self-defence training class is being conducted at a construction site in Gandhinagar, Gujarat for migrant female workers and their children.
Our Objective: We look forward to expand this self-defence training program to more government schools and make girls self-dependent and able to defend any difficult situation.
